Digital Map Shop™ is the simplest and quickest way to buy your maps. Maps for USA, Canada, Europe and New Zealand are available now, and more are continually being added. A great way to start or add to your Memory-Map collection.
To get started, first download and install the latest version of the Memory-Map application.
Browse to the area you are interested in using a small-scale base-map, and click Maps > Digital Map Shop > Online Maps...
The software presents a list of maps available in the area viewed. Select the map you want, and Continue... and it will download the requested map (or the part of the map that was visible in your window). Some of the maps are free, others require license management. (When prompted, click Activate, and sign in to your account). Most maps will give you an option to get a limited time demo of the map. For some European maps, you have to purchase parts of the map according to the area you want to activate. See the Memory-Map Europe site for details of these maps.
We recommend you drill-down from the world map to a regional base-map, then to detailed topo maps, otherwise you may be downloading rather a lot of data.
Once the map is activated, you can now download the data you want to view. If you click the Map > Digital Map Shop > Auto-Download menu command, the map data is automatically downloaded as you scroll and zoom around. You can also click Map > Digital Map Shop > Activate Visible Map Portion to download the full resolution map for the area visible in the current map window.
A third way to obtain the data is to scale-out to a smaller scale map and draw the outline of the area you want using the Route tool (ensuring that the route ends on the same waypoint it started, to form a closed loop). Then right-click on the route and select Operations > Enclosed Area > Digital Map Shop.
No bandwidth limitations
When you buy a map in the Digital Map Store, you have unlimited access to the data for the map you purchased. If you purchased, say, the state of Texas, you may download as much of the state as you want (10GB if you want it all), whenever you want it.
No time-outs
The maps you buy are available for you to use as long as you like. There are no limits on when you can download the data, or on when you can use the data.
No data size limits
Download as much data as you want. All the data you download is available for viewing and navigation.
No connection required for field navigation
An internet connection is required to download the data, but you can use the map for navigation without any connection.
Download direct to your phone
If you use a Windows Mobile phone, you can download map data direct over the air. Useful for an impromptu side trip, or if you need additional detail of a particular site.
Elevation and Index data has to be downloaded separately
Unzip the elevation data (*.qed files) and index data (*.mmi) and place them into the folder C:\Maps\DMS\USA, etc.
