You can load a database of place names and locate nearly all features marked on the maps by entering a few characters of their names.
If you are using Memory-Map Cartography, the database may be loaded automatically when you open the appropriate map of the area. If not click Search / Load Database / MMI file, and browse to the folder where your maps are installed. Select the appropriate database file and click OK.
If you are using a BSB marine chart CD, insert the CD and select Search > Load Database > Marine GEO File, browse to the INDEX folder of your chart CD and select the GEO file for your region.
If you are using a Maptech Terrain product, insert a topo map CD and load it into Terrain Navigator. You can exit Terrain Navigator at this point and open Memory-Map Navigator. Select Search > Load Database > Terrain PTX file. Select the region you want to import.
To load an index into your PDA, first connect the PDA to your PC. When you import an index to Memory-Map Navigator it will then be automatically copied to your PDA.
Now you can select Search > Find Place... type a few characters of the name you are looking for, and click Search. A list of matching feature names is presented. You can restrict the list to certain types of features using the Category control. Select a feature in the list and click View, and the largest scale map or chart showing the feature is opened. The mouse cursor is moved to point at the feature.
Note: If you import a new index to your PC or PocketPC, Memory-Map automatically overwrites the previous index.
