You can import an index database to allow you to find a place or feature by entering it's name. Several sources of data are supported.
If you are using Memory-Map Cartography the database is installed in the same folder as the maps. To import the index to Memory-Map Navigator select Search>Load Database>MMI file and select the index file you wish to use from the map folder .
If you are using Maptech BSB nautical charts, use the Search > Load Database > Marine GEO file menu command. Browse to the Index folder on your CD and select the file named RegX.GEO. This database contains nearly all the named features on all the maps for the region.
If you are using one of the Maptech "Terrain" applications, use the Search > Load Database > Terrain PTX file menu command. A dialog prompts you to select the map CD that you have loaded which covers the area of interest.
You can create your own index using an ascii text file. The TXT index file format consists of 4 fields, separated by tab, comma or the | character. The fields are: feature name, category, latitude and longitude. The position is given as decimal degrees, with N and E positive, S and W negative. You can put quotes around a field to protect the delimiters. For example:
"Statue of Liberty, NY",Monument,40.68912,-74.04455
Each time you import a database file, the existing data is replaced by the new data. The software does not allow you to merge different sources of data.
To copy the index data to your PDA for use with pocket navigator, use the PDA / Send Index Window to PDA command. If the PDA is connected when you import the data from BSB, PTX or TXT file, the whole index is automatically sent to the PDA. Disconnect the PDA or cancel the copy operation if you don't want the database on the PDA. These operations overwrite any index data already on the PDA.
