When you've used Memory-Map for a while, you may find the screen becomes cluttered with too many tracks or marks. While you can turn off track recording, and delete individual marks and tracks, there are also some more powerful tools to help you manage your overlay data.
First, you can save your data to portable industry-standard GPX files.
Click the Overlay, Export, All Marks/Routes/Tracks menu command. This will save the entire set of either marks, routes or track currently loaded.
You can also export data in the Overlays window, by right-clicking on a category or on an individual overlay item.
After saving the data, you might want to Delete All. This deletes all Marks or Tracks currently loaded in memory. It does not delete the saved files, but if you use cloud sync, it does delete data from other devices when they are synced.
Later, you might want to re-load the set of data you saved. Click the Overlay, Import menu command to open a GPX file, or open it in Finder and select Open With, Memory-Map.
GPX is a open file format supported by Memory-Map's iOS, Android and PC software as well as many other tools. If you want to email or share data via AirDrop, etc, it will be understood by many apps. The GPX data does not include the map images, just marks, routes and tracks. For example you can transfer route planned route to a Garmin GPS, to use as a backup for your device.
